FAQ's: Your Questions Answered

  • Do you accept insurance?
IN-NETWORK BENEFITS: I am an in-network provider with: 1) Blue Cross/Blue Shield (BC/BS) of Vermont 2) Vermont Blue Advantage with BC/BS of Vermont OUT-OF-NETWORK BENEFITS: Many health insurance plans reimburse 50-80% of session fees with out-of-network therapists. I will provide you a "superbill" and receipt of payment that you can submit to your insurance company for potential reimbursement for out-of-network services. I encourage you to check with your insurance company to fully understand the specifics related to your policy. HIGH DEDUCTIBLE PLANS and HEALTH SAVINGS ACCOUNTS (HSA's) You can submit a "superbill" and receipt of payment to apply toward your High Deductible Insurance Plans, Flexible Savings Account, and Health Savings Account.
  • How much does a session cost?
  • Do you offer packages or discounts?
Yes! Group treatment can be a more affordable option than individual treatment, and we can discuss your specific circumstances during your initial consultation. Because group programs are most effective when you attend all of the sessions, the entire program is offered at a discount when you pay in full to provide reward and motivation for going "all in." To make mental health care more accessible, I reserve a limited number of spots with reduced rates and offer "scholarship" spots for group treatment. Though these spots might not be available at all times, please reach out by emailing connect@hypnosisforhealthcare.com.
  • What payment methods do you accept?
Fees are paid in full at the time of service by private pay clients, as are copays and deductibles for clients using insurance. Payment is accepted via our secure online portal in the form of debit, or credit card (Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover). As a healthcare provider, we can accept Health Savings Account (HSA) and Flexible Spending Account (FSA) cards as well, or provide receipts for reimbursement.
  • What are the benefits of private pay?
Greater Privacy & Confidentiality – Your treatment stays between you and your provider, without insurance company involvement. More Personalized Treatment – You receive care tailored to your needs, rather than sessions dictated by insurance limitations. No Diagnosis Required – Insurance requires a mental health diagnosis for coverage, while private pay allows you to seek help without labeling or fear of how a mental health diagnosis may be used in the future (i.e., life insurance, employment, legal matters). Flexibility in Treatment – Choose the length, frequency, and approach that best fits your goals—without restrictions from insurance. Faster Access to Care – No waiting for insurance approvals or provider limitations—start treatment when you're ready.

Below are the main reasons clients prefer accessing mental health services without using insurance.

Please reach out with any questions or concerns.

Privacy

Your health information stays private—no reports to insurance or future employers.
Unlike insurance-based care, private pay ensures past mental health diagnoses won’t impact your career or financial future.

Control

Your treatment, your choice. Some insurance plans don’t cover hypnosis, even though it’s an evidence-based therapy. With private pay, you and your provider make the decisions—not an insurance company.

Flexibility

Choose your provider and treatment plan—without restrictions from insurance networks. Private pay ensures you work with the best fit for your needs, not just who’s covered.

Choice

No mandatory psychiatric diagnosis. Insurance requires a diagnosis for coverage, while private pay lets you seek care on your terms—without adding labels to your medical record.
